Job description

Position Title: Registered Physiotherapist, Clinical Services (Pilot Program)

Hours: Part time - 3 days per week, in person. August - September 2026 start.

Faculty/Department: Student Success and Engagement

Campus/Location: North Campus

Compensation: A hybrid model designed to support you through the ramp-up period and reward growth after. For the first 8 weeks (or until caseload reaches approximately 22 visits/week, whichever comes first), you will be paid $50/hour for 7 hours per day, 3 days per week (approximately $1050/week), providing stable income while you build your caseload and help set up the service. After that point, compensation shifts to an earnings-based revenue share model, with the majority share to the contractor. Projected earnings once caseload is established: up to approximately $1500+/week on a part-time, 3-day schedule, with the opportunity to grow earnings as the service grows.

Reporting to: Associate Director, Clinical Services

The Opportunity

Humber’s Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) is launching physiotherapy as a new clinical service, and we are looking for the right physiotherapist to build it with us. This is an opportunity to establish a practice from the ground up — with a built-in client base of students and staff, an established multidisciplinary clinic, and the institutional support of a post-secondary community committed to wellbeing.

The pilot is structured to reward initiative. Your earnings grow as your caseload grows, and a successful pilot opens the door to expanding the service, additional days, broader programming, and a lasting role in shaping health and wellness services at Humber.

What you will do

Reporting to the Associate Director, Clinical Services, the Physiotherapist will work both independently and collaboratively with other health professionals to provide assessment and treatment to Humber students and staff, while actively growing the physiotherapy service as part of our multidisciplinary Clinical Services team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct physiotherapy assessments and develop individualized, evidence-informed
  • Provide clinical management of musculoskeletal conditions, sports and activity-related injuries, postural and ergonomic concerns, chronic pain, and post-surgical rehabilitation.
  • Deliver one-on-one care to a diverse caseload of students and staff, supporting return to academics, work, sport, and daily activity.
  • Collaborate with our Doctors, Nurses, Dietitian, and Mental Health team as part of an integrated circle of care.
  • Actively build and grow the physiotherapy caseload, contributing to outreach, promotion, and awareness of the new service across both campuses.
  • Participate in service development: contribute to clinic workflows, e-billing and insurance processes, outcome measurement, and evaluation of the pilot.
  • Design and support health promotion programming focused on injury prevention, movement, and physical wellbeing.
  • Participate in initiatives to amplify Humber’s Wellbeing strategy.
  • Foster a supportive environment where students and staff feel seen, heard, and validated.
What you bring to the role
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • Proof of professional liability insurance.
  • Mid-to-senior level clinical experience (minimum five years preferred) in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset: experience or demonstrated interest in building a caseload, growing a practice, or launching a new service.
  • Experience with private practice operations, including extended health insurance billing and electronic medical records.
  • Experience working with young adults and culturally diverse populations, with a commitment to equitable access to care using an EDIB (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging) lens.
  • Understanding of the impact of social determinants of health on physical health and educational outcomes.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of professional competence maintained through continuing education and critical evaluation of professional practice.
What’s in it for you?
  • The chance to build and shape a brand-new service — your clinical vision, supported by an established wellness centre.
  • An earnings model that rewards your initiative, with genuine opportunity to grow the clinic and your role if the pilot succeeds.
  • A ready-made community of students and staff, and a multidisciplinary team to collaborate with from day one.
  • An opportunity to have an impact with a post-secondary institution poised to do great things, supporting youth and young adults in transition.
  • Working with a diverse, committed team of humans who care about each other and our students.
  • Situated next to the scenic Humber River and Humber Arboretum — a perfect place for walks and wellness breaks.
