Job summary

Powell River Brain Injury Society is seeking a compassionate Community Support Worker to join our team in Powell River. You will provide one-on-one support to adults living with acquired brain injuries, helping them pursue personal goals and participate in the community.

You'll connect clients with community resources, plan group programs, and collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and community partners to promote independence while maintaining confidential documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in community support, social services, health care, recreation, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
  • FoodSafe certification is an asset.
  • Experience with brain injury is an asset but not required.
  • Be organized, dependable, and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals living with acquired brain injuries.
  • Help clients identify and work toward personal goals that promote independence and community participation.
  • Connect clients with community resources and services.
  • Plan and facilitate group programs, workshops, and recreational activities.
  • Support community outreach and brain injury awareness initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, and community partners.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client documentation.
  • Assist with newsletters, social media, and other communication projects.
