Job summary

Lift Community Services in Powell River, BC, seeks a Casual Community House Support Worker to help create a welcoming, safe space for individuals and families. You will assist with access to programs, nutritious food, and social connections while applying trauma‑informed and culturally safe practices.

You will support daily operations, enhance engagement, and collaborate with staff and volunteers to strengthen community belonging in a respectful, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 and 1 year of related community services experience.
  • Experience supporting individuals and families facing barriers.
  • Knowledge of qathet region resources and referral processes.
  • Group facilitation or family programming experience is an asset.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Trauma-informed, harm reduction, or non-violent communication training preferred.
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.

The Position

The Community House Support Worker contributes to the welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment of Lift’s Community House. The role supports individuals and families by providing access to programs, information, nutritious food, and social connection. The Support Worker assists with daily operations, facilitates engagement, and strengthens community belonging through compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally safe interactions.

Qualifications

Working Condition and Physical Requirements
