Covenant Health operates the Ambulatory IV Clinic at Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, and seeks a Clerk IV to support patient flow and reception. The role engages in posting, scheduling, and coordinating clinic activities, under CUPE 41 terms.
The Clerk IV will assist with ordering supplies, maintaining confidentiality, and providing professional communication with patients and staff, ensuring smooth daily operations.
The Clerk IV works as a team member with IV Clinic staff, HPT nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and physicians. Working closely with the Charge Nurse, the Clerk IV participates in patient care by organizing and monitoring patient flow throughout the clinic. Responsible for the ordering and stocking of reception supplies. Participates in reception and clerical functions such as managing unit appointment request work queues in Connect Care, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, using office scanner, fax machine and printer and greeting patients on arrival to the clinic. The Clerk IV is the first point of contact for the patients coming into the IV Clinic. Please note: Classifications Under Review.
The Clerk IV provides complex clerical support. The Clerk IV performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.
One year related post secondary certificate required.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Working with Microsoft Office computer software required. Proficiency with Connect Care Required. Minimum two (2) years previous experience including patient care, maintenance of supplies, appointment bookings and reception in a physician's office or medical clinic setting required. Ability to multitask. Ability to work independently and as a team member under pressure with frequent interruptions. Must be able to maintain professionalism and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to organize workflow with initiative and good judgement. Must maintain confidentiality of patient information. Medical terminology required.Completion of a recognized Hospital Unit Clerk, MOA or Medical Secretary education required.Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C)
