The Real Estate, Facilities & Economic Development Department is looking for a regular full time Clerk III to join their Business Services team in the Economic Development Division.
Responsibilities
In this position, you will work directly with our business community and provide an efficient, customer-service oriented approach to providing critical business services. The position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including screening new license applications for appropriate zoning designations and supporting various programs within the Economic Development division, such as liquor licensing, outdoor dining, and the Mobile Food Vendor Program. You will engage with business owners to provide guidance on processes related to the issuance and renewal of business licenses, assist in clarifying or obtaining missing commercial information, and contact businesses regarding unpaid licenses. Additionally, you will explain relevant rules, regulations, and policies; assess claims, deductions, adjustments, and complaints; and help resolve related issues. This role also involves handling escalated inquiries when web-based services are insufficient, ensuring timely and effective resolution
Requirements
You will have completed courses in a related discipline, with considerable related work experience. Strong administrative and organizational skills are required, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Thorough knowledge of related bylaws, acts, and regulations would be an asset. You will have strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), keyboarding skills at a minimum net speed of 40 wpm, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.
Compensation
$31.97 to $37.58 per hour
(Pay Grade 17 – January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
