Job summary

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of pharmacy technology and aseptic manipulations.

Purpose

Under the supervision of the Cleanroom Supervisor and under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacists, the Cleanroom Technician is responsible for aseptically preparing sterile drug admixtures in the cleanroom and assisting with order entry, label verifications, production staging, decontamination/cleaning, labelling and final packaging checks. The Cleanroom Technician may also be assigned additional duties as required by the reporting manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • The Cleanroom Technician is responsible for preparing prescriptions according to technical knowledge and the detailed specifications of the work instructions.
  • The Cleanroom Technician must have a sound knowledge of pharmacy technology and have the skills and knowledge required for aseptic manipulations.
  • The incumbent must demonstrate high integrity and good judgment; always ensuring high product quality while working without direct supervision.
  • The incumbent must be flexible and possess a thorough knowledge of all areas of production activities such as: inventory maintenance, production staging, quality assurance monitoring, product labelling, syringe checks, packaging, final check, order entry, label verifications and cleaning procedures.
  • The Cleanroom Technician must also be able to evaluate priorities, solve problems, react to areas of importance, and work well in a team environment. Good interpersonal skills and organizational ability are a necessity.
  • Internally, thorough knowledge of all departments and their functions is required, in order to maintain the flow of services provided by Royal Drugs. The Cleanroom Technician is in contact with all other staff members daily.
  • Externally, there may be occasional (limited) phone interaction with patients when working alongside the pharmacists.
  • Maintains up-to-date training designated for this position including health and safety training via Learning Management System (QSI, and/or others as assigned)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Secondary school education and Pharmacy Diploma from an Alberta College of Pharmacy accredited college or institute
  • Must be registered or eligible to be registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacy
  • Successful and maintained certification as a regulated pharmacy technician licensed to practice with the Alberta College of Pharmacy
  • IV experience an asset
