Overview

The role involves maintaining cleanliness throughout the refinery and packaging areas, including returning scrap product to the raw materials shed. This entry-level cleaner position pays $24.70/hour, with opportunities to bid into other manufacturing roles starting at $34.89/hour after completing the probation period and upon availability of new positions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of packaging and process building floors and equipment.
• Remove dust from process areas.
• Clean food contact and non-food contact equipment following specific procedures.
• Handle scrap sugar bags weighing up to 20 kg (or 40 kg with team lift).
• Maneuver large buggies full of reject sugar.
• Operate powered hand trucks with full loads.
• Clean large floor areas using mops and floor washers.
• Follow GMP standards, Food Safety, and Health & Safety policies.
• Perform duties across multiple plant locations as needed.
• Report unsanitary practices to the Sanitation Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate sanitation records.
• Assist and train other associates as required.

Education Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks.
• Ability to operate packaging machinery and cleaning equipment.

Experience and Qualifications

• One year of manufacturing or industrial experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning processes and chemical safety.
• Understanding of WHMIS and safety practices.
• Teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
• Effective communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Regular physical exertion, including lifting up to 20 kg.
• Ability to stand for long periods, bend, kneel, reach, and climb stairs.
• Ability to handle machinery, tools, and products visually and manually.

Work Environment

• Exposure to allergens, wet/humid conditions, and high temperatures.
• Use of PPE, including respiratory protection, may be required.
