Job summary

Giant Tiger is seeking a Cleaner for its Johnstown Distribution Centre on a 3-month contract, Sunday-Thursday nights. You’ll keep warehouse areas clean, operate power scrubbers and sweepers, and ensure safety and sanitation standards are met.

Ideal applicants have a high school diploma and warehouse experience, good communication, and the ability to work independently. The role pays CAD 20.48 per hour with benefits and overtime potential as described.

• Completion of High School or equivalent; Experience in a warehouse is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Self-motivated with ability to work without direct supervision and endure standing/walking/lifting.

Responsibilities

• Clean with hand brooms, power scrubbers, sweepers, and vacuums to meet standards.
• Remove refuse from garbage and recycling bins daily; keep bins empty and clean.
• Clean warehouse floor work areas.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks safely as directed.
• Maintain high sanitation and housekeeping standards.
• Prepare complete and accurate records and reports as required.
• Keep a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Promote safety and ensure OSHA compliance in operations.

About This Role: Workplace Arrangements: This is a 3 month temporary role with a schedule of Sunday-Thursday, 10:00pm-6:30am at our Johnstown Distribution Centre. Internal applicants: must submit a resume with their application. If an internal is the successful candidate they will remain a permanent employee.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Clean with hand brooms, power scrubbers, sweepers, and vacuum cleaners to meet company standards. Remove all refuse from garbage bins, recycle bins and building daily, ensuring that trash cans is empty and clean. Clean work areas within warehouse floor. Perform routine maintenance tasks as directed effectively and safely. Ensure that the highest degree of sanitation and housekeeping is maintained. Prepare complete and accurate records and reports as required. Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Ensures an efficient, clean, and safe area of all material handling equipment areas Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety in accordance with OSHA, applicable legislation, and company policies & procedures

What You’ll Bring:

Completion of High School or equivalent; Experience working in a warehouse environment, maintenance experience an asset; Excellent communication skills to be able to interact with all levels of the organization; Self-motivated; ability to work without direct supervision and standing/walking/lifting for extended periods. Experience operating power scrubbers and sweepers, power pallet truck, compactor or bailers an asset. Successful candidates must be in good standing for both performance and health & safety.

Hourly Rate $20.48
