Job Summary:

As a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Team, you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety & striving to exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Functioning as a core member of the operational team and reporting to the Manager/ Supervisor as a Cleaner you may be required to perform some of the following tasks as required by the Manager/Supervisor and needs of the client:
2. Clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
3. Dry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors.
4. Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment (when required).
5. Steam clean or shampoo carpets (when required).
6. Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor.
7. Transport maintenance machinery, where necessary, between floors and job sites.
8. Cleans and stores equipment and machinery used.
9. Cleans glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach.
10. Cleans washroom floors including stripping and finishing.
11. Cleans stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required.
12. Loads and unloads supplies and replenishes cleaning solutions.
13. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
14. Other duties that management may assign.
15. Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
16. Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals (when required).

Job Requirements:

1. Experience in performing various cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.
2. Experience in using floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipment, materials, and solutions.
3. Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the provisions that apply to this work including WHMIS.
4. Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items as well as climb ladders.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, and the general public.
6. Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as assigned as well as work in multiple locations.
7. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, prepare and maintain manual and electronic records.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation:

1. Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable.
2. Must have a valid Class G license (may be required).
