Job summary

Canada Cartage is seeking an Owner Operator Class 1 Flatbed Driver to cover deliveries across Western Canada, with start locations in Edmonton or Calgary. This full-time role requires operating flatbed and curtain side trucks, with a demanding 70-hour work week and a focus on safety and service.

You will unload up to 50 lbs, secure cargo, maintain logs, and perform thorough vehicle inspections. Flexibility for weekends and overnights is essential to meet customer demands.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Class 1 license.
• Minimum 1 year verifiable Class 1 experience.
• Minimum 6 months verifiable flatbed experience.
• Must be bondable and legally able to work in Canada.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and load securement procedures.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly (75 lbs as needed).
• Flexible hours including weekends and overnight shifts.
• Canada-wide driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Delivering products to various retail locations across Western Canada
• Perform physical unloading of goods (hand bombing) of up to 50 lbs
• Operate flatbed and curtain side trucks to transport a variety of loads safely and efficiently
• Secure cargo using chains and straps, and other equipment following safety guidelines
• Ensure on-time, safe, and professional delivery to customers
• Accurately document all deliveries and maintain detailed logs
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.

Requirements:

• Valid Class1license
• Physically capable of lifting to 50 lbs. regularly (up to 75 lbs. as needed)
• Minimum 1 year, of verifiable Class 1 experience
• Minimum 6 months of verifiable flatbed experience
• Must have verifiable driving experience within the past 3 months/ 1 year
• Must be bondable and legally able to work in Canada
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and load securement procedures
• Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and overnight shifts
• Clean CVOR, abstract
• Follow company rules and regulations with respect to safety and hours of service
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to complete eLog and inspection reports accurately
• Must have Canada-wide driving experience
• Must have experience strapping loads in all weather conditions
