Job description

Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. is seeking qualified Class 1 Drivers with extensive experience hauling topsoil and gravel in confined residential areas. You will work closely with our team of skilled professionals to ensure the timely delivery of materials using safe driving practices.

This is a seasonal position, Monday through Saturday, local to Edmonton and the surrounding area.

Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. (Wilco) is one of four independently owned and operated companies within the Whimase Group of Companies, established over the last four decades.

From earth moving to shrub planting, Wilco provides a range of services including park construction, sports facilities, environmental, landscape, and civil earthworks. With decades of experience, Wilco confidently delivers complex projects to its clients.

Responsibilities

1. Haul materials to various work sites in Edmonton and the surrounding area in a timely and safe manner.
2. Follow assigned routes and schedules for efficient and timely deliveries.
3. Have knowledge of truck routes and the City of Edmonton.
4. Perform daily vehicle safety inspections and maintenance checks.
5. Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections using the Nektar app.
6. Maintain accurate logs of materials and deliveries.
7. Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
8. Ability to self-load with a loader is an asset.
9. Follow all traffic regulations and company driving policies and procedures.
10. Ensure proper securing of all loads prior to transport.
11. Communicate effectively with team members, superiors, and clients.

Requirements

1. Must possess a Class 1 driver's license.
2. Clean Drivers Abstract.
3. Experience driving a gravel truck or tandem is required.
4. Knowledge of industry regulations and procedures related to driving and equipment operation.
5. Safety-oriented mindset with a strong attention to detail.
6. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
7. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
8. Tech-savvy, comfortable using an iPhone or Android device with the Nektar app.
9. Experience loading and hauling equipment is an asset.
