As a Truck Driver III working with the IFO equipment team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, transportation and care of tandem/single axle trucks, sweepers, and other associated winter equipment/attachments.
What will you do?
- Operate trucks above a GVWR or 13,000 kg with a trailer less than 4600 kg, such as tandem axle truck, or flusher, in a safe and efficient manner, following truck routes as required
- Primary tasks for this position will be transporting, cleaning and maintaining tandem and single axle units (all aspects) to ready them for the upcoming winter season.
- Deliver people, materials, equipment and/or parts to fleet shops, district yards, etc.
- Haul, load and move equipment and materials, including sander boxes, front/underbody plows and other related equipment
- Conduct daily maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning and/or greasing according to manufacturer or City maintenance schedules
- General labour duties, such as ,flagging, box ON/OFF, equipment washing and other duties as operationally required
- Complete paperwork and reports, such as defect slips, manifest logs, and safety and damage reports
- Conduct work in a manner that complies with the requirements set out in the City's Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Participate in the calibration process for winter tandem/single axle sander units
Qualifications- Completion of Grade 10
- Experience in the operation of equipment assigned to the position or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- City of Edmonton trained and passed on Tandem (D permit trained)
- City of Edmonton trained and passed on Sander/Plow
- Trucks above a GVWR or 13000kg with a trailer less than 4600kg

Conditions of Employment:
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment (including medical monitoring and being clean-shaven for proper equipment fit) is a requirement for this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
- Valid Alberta Class 3 Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's Permit is a requirement of this position
Work Environment:
- Overtime work may be required during peak operational periods
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform the duties assigned to the class, specifically in the presence of various weather and environmental conditions such as dust and noise
- Ability to work at various locations around the City, including areas that may not be reachable by public transit and satellite locations from trailers that will move throughout the season
