Job summary

GFL Environmental in Sparwood, BC is seeking a Class 1/3 Operator to join the Vacuum Truck Services team. You will perform spill cleanup, line flushing, power washing, water hauling and loading/hauling of fluids with a strong focus on safety and teamwork.

The role is based in Sparwood, offering day and night shifts with rotations of 21 on/7 off or 14 on/7 off for those outside the area, requiring flexibility and reliability. Pre-trips, logs, and meticulous documentation are part of daily duties.

Qualifications

  • Industrial vacuum truck experience preferred.
  • CDL with Air Brakes; Class 1 would be an asset.
  • Must be able to operate manual transmission.
  • Willing to work after-hours for call-outs.
  • Valid safety tickets (First Aid/CPR, CSTS, TDG, H2S Alive) are assets.

Job description

Position Summary

The Class 1/3 Operator will work with the Sparwood BC Vacuum Truck Services team to provide exceptional service to our clients. Services provided include (but are not limited to): spill cleanup, line flushing, power washing, water hauling, and loading and hauling of various fluids/materials. The chosen individual will perform this diverse range of activities with a focus on safety, professionalism, and teamwork.

This position is based in Sparwood, BC. For candidates residing outside of the Sparwood area, this position operates on either a 21 on 7 off rotation or a 14 on 7 off rotation, which includes day and night shifts.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate vacuum equipment in an industrial setting
  • Follow company policies and procedures as well as various on-site Requirements.
  • Provide exceptional service to all clients and professionally represent GFL.
  • Complete daily equipment pre-trips and driver logs required for NSC compliance.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate company documentation to accompany work performed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to environmental compliance.
  • Participate in safety programs such as safety meetings, near miss reporting and job hazard assessments.
  • Work independently while managing time and productivity and communicating effectively.
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Industrial Vacuum Truck, Hydrovac and/or Combo Vac experience is preferred.
  • Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a fairly clean Commercial Drivers Abstract; Class 1 Driver's License would be an asset.
  • Must be able to operate manual transmission.
  • Flexibility of working after-hours for any call outs.
  • Valid safety tickets such as First Aid/CPR, Construction Safety Training (CSTS), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and H2S Alive are considered an asset.

  • Knowledge to perform minor maintenance on units to maintain efficient operation.
