Job summary

BFL CANADA in Montreal is seeking a claims Examiner to join our team. You will act as a liaison between the broker and insurer to resolve claims and perform tasks related to the fair and equitable disposition of claims.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the insurance industry.
• Has obtained their adjuster’s licence (AMF).
• Good knowledge of insurance coverages.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft 365.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Resourceful, customer focused and service oriented.
• Strong attention to detail and precise.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Review new claims, gather facts for insurer.
• Analyze claims and coverage; advise on issues.
• Provide technical guidance on claims coverage to clients.
• Negotiate payments and reimbursements on insurer’s behalf.
• Update broker on claim status.
• Enter data in LEO, Bordereau and Lineage.
• Process delegated authorities; examine reports, issue payments, assist month-end.
• Maintain accurate files and documentation for each claim.
• Build relationships with internal clients, adjusters, insurers.
• Identify client or system issues and escalate.
• Comply with all policies and procedures.
• Develop and distribute claims management reports.
• Support team with difficult files.

We are looking for a claims Examiner to join our team in our Montreal office!

As an Examiner, you will be responsible for acting as a liaison as a liaison between the broker and insurer in resolving all claims and to perform all tasks related to the fair and equitable disposition of claims.

Your Day as a claims Examiner

• Upon notification of a new claim, reviews the relevant policy and gathers all necessary facts and information for the insurer.
• Conducts analysis of claims and coverage and recommends solutions to coverage issues.
• Provides technical expertise to internal and external clients regarding claims coverage.
• Negotiates payments and reimbursements on the insurer’s behalf.
• Updates the broker on the status of the claim, if required.
• Enters and maintains current and accurate information in LEO, Bordereau and Lineage.
• Carries on all tasks required by Delegated Authorities, notably examining reports, issuing payments, helping with month-end reports and reconciliation of payments.
• Maintains current and accurate files and documentation for each claim.
• Builds and maintains excellent working relationships with internal clients, adjusters, insurers and related trades and experts.
• Identifies any client or system issues that may arise to the appropriate individuals.
• Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
• Develops claims management reports and distributes reports to management as required.
• Supports the Claims team with problem files and difficult situations.
