Zurich Canada is currently seeking a Claims Counsel.

In this role, you will handle litigated claims related to Cyber, Crime, D&O, E&O, EPL, and Environmental policies of low to moderate exposure and complexity within specific authority limits, following established protocols. Your goal is to ensure claims are managed efficiently and effectively, providing customer-centric service.

What you will do

• Review claim documents, investigate coverage, liability, and damages.
• Draft coverage position correspondence addressing liability and damages; communicate with insureds, brokers, Business Units, Insurance Tower, mediators, and judges as necessary.
• Provide exceptional customer service by building and maintaining relationships with customers, brokers, and external partners.
• Ensure claim and file management complies with Zurich Best Practices and regulatory frameworks.
• Manage litigated files proactively with external counsel.
• Develop strategies for claim resolution, ensuring timely and appropriate reserving.
• Participate in mediation and settlement conferences.
• Provide claims insights to support business units and collaborate with underwriters to identify trends and issues.
• Maintain confidentiality to protect Zurich’s reputation.

Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table

• Juris Doctor degree with 3+ years of experience in insurance claims handling or legal practice in insurance.
• Negotiation skills.
• Customer service experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Detail-oriented and analytical mindset.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
