Job summary

10 Percent Recruiting Ltd. is seeking an experienced Claims Advisor, Bodily Injury, to join our client’s Edmonton team.

The role focuses on investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of bodily injury and casualty claims, with responsibility to work with claimants, legal counsel, medical professionals, and internal stakeholders. The position starts onsite for the first three months, then transitions to a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience handling bodily injury claims.
  • Post-secondary education and/or progress toward CIP/FCIP designation.
  • Experience with Commercial General Liability and Personal Liability policies.
  • Mediation, arbitration, and litigation experience.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for complex claims.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, documentation, and injury assessment.
  • Understanding of common injury types, treatments, and recovery timelines.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of bodily injury and casualty claims from notice to final resolution.
  • Confirm policy coverage and liability entitlement.
  • Investigate claim circumstances and evaluate exposure.
  • Review medical documentation and supporting evidence.
  • Quantify claims and establish reserves.
  • Maintain detailed file documentation throughout the lifecycle.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants and counsel.
  • Participate in mediations, examinations for discovery, arbitration, and litigation as required.
  • Communicate developments clearly to all stakeholders.

Job Title: Claims Advisor, Bodily Injury
Location:
Edmonton, Alberta (onsite for the first 3 months, then hybrid)

The Position:

Our client is seeking an experienced Claims Advisor, Bodily Injury to join their Claims team in Edmonton. You are responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of bodily injury and casualty claims. Working with claimants, legal counsel, medical professionals, and internal stakeholders, you will ensure claims are handled efficiently, fairly, and in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.

This position offers an opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of claims while contributing to a collaborative and professional team environment. To support onboarding and training, you will work full-time onsite during the first three months before transitioning to a hybrid work arrangement.

What You'll Do:
Claims Management & Investigation
  • Manage a portfolio of bodily injury and casualty claims from initial notice through final resolution.
  • Confirm policy coverage and determine liability and entitlement to coverage.
  • Investigate claim circumstances and evaluate exposure.
  • Collect, review, and assess medical documentation, treatment plans, and supporting evidence.
  • Quantify claims and establish appropriate reserves.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed file documentation throughout the claim lifecycle.
Negotiation & Resolution
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, legal counsel, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in mediations, examinations for discovery, questioning, arbitration proceedings, and litigation-related activities as required.
  • Develop and execute effective settlement strategies to achieve timely and fair claim resolution.
  • Analyze complex information and make sound, defensible claim decisions.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, legal counsel, medical professionals, and external service providers.
  • Communicate claim developments clearly and effectively to all interested parties.
  • Support departmental priorities and assist with additional claims activities as required.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
Mandatories:
  • Extensive experience handling bodily injury claims.
  • Post-secondary education and/or completion of, or progress toward, a CIP or FCIP designation.
  • Experience working with Commercial General Liability and Personal Liability policies.
  • Demonstrated experience with mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

Assets:
  • Experience handling multi-jurisdictional claims.
  • Experience with Guidewire or similar claims management systems.
  • Knowledge of Alberta automobile insurance legislation, the Traffic Safety Act, and Minor Injury Regulation.
  • Advanced insurance designations or continuing professional development within the claims field.
