Job summary

Agilus by Synergie in Fort McMurray, Alberta, seeks a Civil Technologist for field-based construction quality control of mine earth structures in the oil sands. This role focuses on inspections, in-situ testing, and ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications while supporting large-scale mining operations in outdoor environments.

You will work a 7x7 rotation with day/night shifts, benefiting from fly-in/fly-out arrangements from Calgary or Edmonton and company-sponsored camp

Qualifications

• Diploma or diploma-equivalent in Civil/Construction/Geological/Geomatics/Mining or related engineering technology.
• Experience in construction QC or field inspections is preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in mining/industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction quality control monitoring on mine earth structures.
• Conduct daily inspections of borrow sources and active construction areas.
• Complete in-situ soil density testing using nuclear densometer equipment.
• Interpret and follow issued-for-construction drawings and specs.
• Apply QA/QC and safety procedures in the field.
• Communicate with operations, engineering, and project stakeholders.
• Document construction activities, test results, and observations accurately.
• Prepare and submit daily reports and project documentation.

Requirements

• Hold a diploma in Civil, Construction, Geological, Geomatics, Mining, or a related engineering technology discipline
• Be eligible for ASET registration as a C.Tech. or C.E.T.P.
• Possess at least one year of construction quality control experience
• Demonstrate experience working in outdoor construction, mining, or industrial environments
• Maintain a valid Class 5 driver's licence with a strong driving record
• Understand material classification, soil testing, and earthworks construction principles
• Exhibit strong communication, observation, and documentation skills
• Be comfortable performing physically demanding work in varying weather and terrain conditions
