Job summary

OCL Group Inc. is seeking skilled civil labourers for a project in Fort McMurray, AB. Successful candidates show up ready to work, maintain safety, and contribute to a clean, efficient job site.

We offer CLAC wages, Friday paydays, RRSP and pension contributions, benefits after 300 hours, paid training, and 10% vacation/holiday pay with overtime after 8 hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial construction sites.
• Ability to operate basic hand and power tools.
• Strong awareness of site safety practices and hazards.
• Physically capable of demanding manual labour.

Responsibilities

• Complete tasks per OCL standards and industry procedures.
• Assist skilled trades as required.
• Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Perform spotting and flagging when needed.
• Read and follow site instructions before each shift.
• Site cleaning and preparation.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Attend daily toolbox meetings.
• Work in varied weather conditions and physically demanding tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for experienced, reliable and hard-working Skilled Civil Labourers to join our team at a project in Fort McMurray, AB.

Compensation/Benefits

• CLAC hourly wages
• Payday is every Friday
• Company contributed RRSP & Pension contributions
• Benefits after 300 hours
• Paid training
• 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on regular earnings
• OT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Complete tasks in line with OCL and industry standards, procedures and practices
• Assist skilled trades as required
• Operate basic hand and power tools safety and effectively
• Perform spotting and flagging duties when required
• Read and understand site-specific instructions prior to each shift
• Site cleaning and preparation
• Maintain a clean and organized work area / job site
• Participate in daily toolbox meetings
• Perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

Skills/Experience/Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Skilled Labourer in industrial construction environments
• Experience digging trenches, operating ground tools like packers, pumps, rakes and shovels
• Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools
• Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and hazard awareness
• Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual labour (lifting up to 50lbs, bending, standing and working in various weather conditions)
• Ensure a safe team environment. Strong teamwork skills with a positive and reliable work ethic
• Strong communication skills. Ability to follow and understand instructions given.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
• Must have the following safety tickets: WHMIS 2015, CSTS 2020 (or equivalent), H2S Alive is an asset
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
