Job summary

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation is seeking a Design Draftsperson Inspection - Civil in St. Catharines, Ontario.

You will plan, design, and produce drawings, inspect civil construction works, and ensure conformance with contracts and regulations to support the reliability of North America’s seaway infrastructure. You will collaborate with internal teams and contractors, bringing rigorous inspection and design expertise to a key piece of the transportation network.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
• Minimum of six (6) years experience in the design of computer-assisted drawings and the inspection of civil construction work.
• Experience with CAD technology (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD).
• Strong knowledge of drawing techniques, design, inspection, and framework/structure construction.
• Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, standards, procedures and safe work practices.
• Eligible for certification with OACETT.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; both verbally and in writing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, update and review technical drawings using CAD software to standards and regulations.
• Develop detailed designs for structures, systems and equipment with calculations and specs.
• Inspect civil construction work on site for compliance with contracts and safety requirements.
• Serve as main contact between internal teams and external partners, including contractors.
