Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Intermediate CAD Technician (Water Resources) in Ontario to join our Environmental Services team. You will draft and refine water resources drawings, develop surfaces and profiles, and support hydrotechnical project design using Civil 3D.

This role emphasizes independent work with strong attention to detail, collaboration across project teams, and a background in civil drafting for water infrastructure. Located in the GTA region with regular office-based work.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or similar.
• OACETT certification (C.Tech. or C.E.T.) is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant drafting and design experience with Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D corridor modeling for grading and drainage.
• Experience with water resources, hydrotechnical and civil infrastructure drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare CAD drawings and design packages for water resources projects using Civil 3D.
• Interpret markups and translate sketches into accurate drawings.
• Develop surfaces, profiles, cross-sections, and plan/profile drawings.
• Prepare grading plans and erosion/sediment control drawings.
• Support Civil 3D corridor modeling for grading and drainage.
• Assist drawing production for riverine, shoreline, and municipal projects.
• Collaborate across project teams in an office-based setting.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking an Intermediate CAD Technician (Water Resources) to join our Ontario Environmental Services team. You will be part of the Water Resources Technical Team within Stantec’s Environmental Services Business Line.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Prepare CAD drawings and design packages for water resources and hydrotechnical projects using Civil 3D
• Interpret engineering markups and sketches and translate them into accurate drawing deliverables
• Develop and edit surfaces, profiles, cross-sections, and plan/profile drawings for riverine, coastal, and other water management projects
• Prepare grading plans, erosion and sediment control drawings, and as-built/redline updates as part of project design deliverables
• Support Civil 3D corridor modeling for grading, drainage, and linear infrastructure
• Support drawing production for culverts, channel works, bank stabilization, shoreline protection, stormwater, municipal drainage, and mining/water management projects
• Perform primarily office-based work, with regular collaboration across project teams

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality drafting work
• Consistent attention to detail
• Thorough understanding of civil drafting and design documentation, with the ability to build surfaces, profiles, and cross-sections
• Familiarity with river works, coastal and shoreline infrastructure, stormwater and municipal drainage, and mining/water management projects
• Proficiency in preparing drawings for water resources, hydrotechnical, drainage, or civil infrastructure projects
• Basic understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and drainage principles.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities
• ArcGIS experience is an asset
• Proficiency in HEC-RAS mapping is an asset

Education and Experience

Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or similar

OACETT certification (C.Tech. or C.E.T.) is an asset

Minimum 5 years of relevant drafting and design experience with regular use of Civil 3D

Proficiency in Civil 3D corridor modeling supporting grading, drainage, linear infrastructure, and water resources design drawings

Experience In a Consulting Environment Is Preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$72,300.00 - $104,800.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
