Job summary

City of Vancouver is seeking a Building Worker to perform a full range of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks in civic buildings, ensuring spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for staff and the public.

Responsibilities include operating janitorial equipment, reporting maintenance needs, and following safety procedures. The role starts in October 2026, with pay ranging from CAD 28.83 to 33.75 per hour, and requires a BC driver's license and a Police Record Check.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized certification program in building services work and some related experience.
• Experience performing routine manual tasks in care, cleaning and general maintenance of buildings.
• Experience operating janitorial tools, equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Cleans spaces inside civic buildings including offices, meeting rooms, and bathrooms.
• Mops, washes, waxes and vacuums floors; cleans walls, doors and fixtures.
• Refills soap dispensers and paper products; empties waste and recycling.
• Performs minor maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and tightening fixtures.
• Sets up rooms for events by arranging tables and chairs.
• Reports maintenance needs to supervisor and follows safety procedures.
