Job summary

RainCity Housing and Support Society is seeking a casual on-site Custodian in the Vancouver area to perform basic janitorial, maintenance, and security tasks. Duties include cleaning, simple repairs, pest control preparation for new tenants, and patrolling facilities under the supervision of the Operations Manager.

The role requires weekday daytime availability, a BC Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check, and the ability to work independently with tenants and staff.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• Certificate in First Aid is required.
• Building Service Worker Certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unplug sinks and toilets and fill small holes in walls/ceilings.
• Touch up paint and check oil and fluid levels; replace tap washers, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and door handles.
• Clean external areas and disinfect building areas; prepare rooms for new tenants including pest control.
• Perform basic security duties such as patrolling buildings and grounds.

Job description

Position Summary

The Custodian performs basic janitorial, maintenance and repair duties for the program facility such as unplugging sinks and toilets, filling small holes in walls/ceilings, touching up paint, checking oil and fluid levels, and replacing tap washers, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and door handles. Also cleans external areas and cleans, washes, and disinfects building areas. Assists program staff with preparing rooms for new tenants, including pest control. Performs basic security duties such as patrolling buildings and grounds. Also interacts with and takes direction from the Operations Manager or designate as needed.
