The City of Thunder Bay is seeking a part-time Chronic Disease Management instructor to supervise classes within the Adult Fitness, Wellness & Inclusion Services program. Under the Program Supervisor, you design and supervise exercise sessions for participants and coordinate with other instructors as needed.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field, a college diploma in exercise leadership, and a commitment to safety and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, or physiotherapy
• College diploma specializing in exercise leadership with special groups will be considered
• Preference will be give to candidates with an internship or volunteer experience in chronic disease management programs

Responsabilités

• Design and supervise exercise sessions for participants.
• Coordinate with other instructors if a session is missed and notify supervisor.
• Ensure overall well-being of participants, including socializing when not instructing.
• Answer questions from participants within knowledge and available information.
• Report any unusual developments in class, equipment, or facility.
• Communicate participant requests, suggestions and complaints to supervisor.
• Contribute to program evaluations and suggest improvements to increase effectiveness.
• Provide leadership in emergency procedures and safety.
• Apply principles of exercise physiology and kinesiology to individuals.
• Inform participants of program rules and ensure understanding of area-specific rules.
