Responsibilities

  • Attend training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
  • Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival.
  • Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.
  • Supervise, support and assign volunteers during the Campaign.
  • Recruit new volunteers and participate in outreach.
  • Monitor locations during shifts and report issues to coordinators.

The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.ACCOUNTABILITIES:The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.• Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign• Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset• Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion• Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator• Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required• Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign• Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers• Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently• Communicate daily with ATL partner for effective transition• Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis)• Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.• Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:Governance Boards and Councils: n/aInternal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign teamExternal: Community membersMANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Reports directly to the _____.Direct reports: none.Workflow coordinator.FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:• Collect donations and petite cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.WORKING CONDITIONS:• Work environment is typically in malls/stores• Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weatherEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.Education, Qualifications and Certifications:• Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an assetExperience:• One year of related experience or working in customer service• Money handling experience is an asset• Related experience is an assetSkills and Capabilities• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills• Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills• Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs)• Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities• Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational informationCompensation:The target hiring range for this position is $16.60 to $20.76 with a maximum of $24.90.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
