Qualifications

  • Money handling experience is an asset.
  • Experience in office administration and with general office equipment (WORD, EXCEL).
  • Valid Manitoba Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle; insurance; clean driver’s abstract required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign including scheduling of staff and/or volunteers.
  • Recruit kettle workers and/or volunteers; provide orientation and performance management.
  • Coordinate schedule for kettle staff/volunteers and manage attendance.
  • Ensure security of donations and timely delivery to secure locations.
  • Record statistics and prepare weekly time sheets and reports.
  • Engage with kettle sites to maintain positive working relationships.

**Job Description:**POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. Kettle Coordinator II position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.ACCOUNTABILITIES: The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties. • Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign • Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset • Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to Corps Officer • Orient and remind staff/volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required • Supervise, support and assign (as required) staff and/or volunteers throughout the Campaign • Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently • Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis) • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received. • Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs. • Promote, coordinate, and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker staff and/or volunteers.• Oversee the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign including scheduling of staff and/or volunteers.• Will participate in recruitment of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers.• Orientation and performance management of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers.• Coordinate the schedule for kettle staff and/or volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.• Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.• Coordinate the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations; may deliver and pick-up kettles in an emergency situation.• Host at a kettle as required ensuring necessary coverage for breaks, etc.• Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature etc.• Record statistical data and prepare weekly time sheets as required.• Post campaign; organize retrieval of all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations.• Perform other related duties as required.CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Governance Boards and Councils: n/a Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team External: Community membersMANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports directly to the Corps Officer. Direct reports: n/a. Workflow coordinator for Christmas Kettle Workers.FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT: • Collect donations and petite cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.WORKING CONDITIONS: • This is a temporary position.• Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a 1⁄2 hour unpaid meal break.• Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.• Work environment is typically in malls/stores• Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather • Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.• Local travel is associated with this position.The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.Education, Qualifications and Certifications:• Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:• A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service.• Money handling experience is an asset.• Experience in office administration.• Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).• Valid Manitoba Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.Skills and Capabilities:• Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.• Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting; attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.• Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs.)• Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.• Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.• Honest, courteous, and punctual; prepared to act in the best interest of employer.• Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.• Attentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.• Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.• Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.**Compensation:**The target hiring range for this position is $16.00 to $19.89 with a maximum of $23.86.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
