Job summary

YMCA of Regina is seeking a Full Time Cook for a childcare centre in Regina. The role involves preparing healthy meals, maintaining kitchen safety and cleanliness, and coordinating with centre leadership.

You will handle food deliveries, inventory, and cooking activities with children, following Ministry requirements and YMCA menus. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites are required.

Qualifications

• ECE Level 1 certification or willingness to obtain.
• 12 years of food services or related experience.
• Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to work independently and maintain high standards of food safety, organization, and cleanliness.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a personal vehicle to travel between locations in Regina and Moose Jaw.
• Availability to work from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Comfortable delivering food to other YMCA sites as part of regular duties using own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Ministry of Education approved healthy meals for Child Care Centres according to YMCA menus.
• Practice food safety at all times during food preparation, handling, cleaning and sanitization procedures.
• Clean and maintain the childcare kitchen, dishes, equipment, and food storage areas per Public Health standards.
• Receive, organize, and store food deliveries (lifting up to 40 lbs).
• Make accurate food order sheets, inventory lists, and other kitchen related sheets.
• Communicate ongoing food service needs to the Food Services Director and Centre Directors.
• Plan and facilitate cooking-based programming with children.
• Interact with children during cooking programming.

We are currently hiring a Full Time Cook for one of our childcare centres in Regina.

Requirements

• Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level 1 certification or willingness to obtain is required to support the programming role and meet Ministry requirements.

• Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain), as required.
• Ability to work independently and maintain high standards of food safety, organization, and cleanliness.
