Our client is a international science and engineering company at the forefront of Advanced Materials innovation. Operating primarily in the field of Metallurgy, they design and build both production- and research-scale process equipment, conducts extensive R&D, and maintains a comprehensive in-house machine hall. The company also manufactures high-performance specialist powders of high value that are not widely available on the market.

Role Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our clients leadership team and drive technological and product strategy. The successful candidate will quickly assimilate the scientific foundation of products and play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s direction toward emerging technologies, new materials, and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic planning: Develop and implement the company's technology vision, strategy, and roadmap to support long-term business goals. This role serves as a crucial link between commercial needs and product portfolio capabilities.
  • Technology leadership: Lead and manage technology, managing the R&D team and supporting engineering, mentoring - including supporting and hiring senior technical talent.
  • Innovation and R&D: Oversee research and development to identify and integrate new technologies, drive innovation process and oversee programs to readiness for delivery.
  • Infrastructure management: Ensure the company's technological infrastructure, architecture, and platform development are scalable, secure, and efficient.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Working with other executives and departments, such as product and commercial teams, to ensure technology aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Budget and resource management: Managing technology budgets, timeframes, and

Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role with a proven track record of 15 to 20 years of experience in complex systems in a capital goods market.
  • A bachelor's degree in Metallurgy Engineering and with a master’s degree in engineering subject, ideally has also obtained chartered status.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including investors.
  • Deep understanding of additive manufacturing and emerging technologies.
