YWCA Halifax is seeking a Chief Operating Officer who will oversee internal operations and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission. The ideal candidate will lead key departments, enhance operational efficiency, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to equity, and experience in strategic management within a mission-driven organization.

Job Summary :
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the internal operations of YWCA Halifax, ensuring that programs, services, and resources are managed efficiently and align with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will lead and manage key departments, including Programs, Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, and IT, to optimize operational performance. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a skilled manager, and an expert in process implementation who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities :
o Implement and execute the YWCA’s strategic plan and work with the CEO to develop and refine internal processes and systems to support the organization’s goals.
o Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization to ensure effective management of resources, program delivery, and service excellence.
o Lead cross-departmental collaboration to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.
o Direct and support key departments, including Programs, Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, and IT.
o Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within each department.
o Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess organizational performance and ensure operational objectives are met.
o Regularly review and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
o Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to senior managers and staff, promoting professional development and a positive work environment.
o Ensure effective communication and alignment across teams.
o Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
o Identify and mitigate operational risks to safeguard the organization’s assets and reputation.
o Report on operational performance and strategic progress to the CEO.
o Collaborate closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to drive organizational success.
