The salary range for this position is:
• Recruitment range: $123,971 - $154,739 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.
• Performance range: $177,951 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary
As a key member of the Executive Team, the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) provides strategic financial leadership for ONC. Reporting to the President and CEO, the CFO oversees ONC’s ~$32M annual operating budget, financial policies, financial planning and reporting, contracts and risk management frameworks, ensuring transparency, compliance, and alignment with the legal and regulatory aspects and ONC’s strategic goals. They also serve as Treasurer for the ONC Society.
The CFO works closely with the UVic General Counsel to negotiate and manage contracts, and oversee compliance with the UVic-ONC Management Agreement. and lead financial reporting for UVic-held research accounts and ONC Society.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic financial leader with expertise in financial strategy, risk management, contracts, and operational oversight in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. They excel at managing large budgets, navigating diverse funding structures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations. Strong leadership and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to foster collaboration across internal teams, external partners, and governing bodies.
The successful candidate will bring a strategic mindset and a forward-thinking approach to solving challenges. They will inspire and empower their team while building consensus among diverse stakeholders. Condition of Employment: The ability to obtain a Government of Canada Secret Level II security clearance is a requirement of this position.
