Being the Chief of the Compliance, Risk Management, Legal Affairs and Corporate Insurance Management team at National Bank Insurance means acting as an expert within the sector to guide and advise stakeholders and management in decisions requiring expertise in the field of compliance and risk management. This job allows you to have a positive impact on our organization, thanks to your positive leadership, your experience in corporate law and your strong communication skills.

** The role can be based in Montreal OR Toronto depending on the selected candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Guide and prioritize the team's work as a leader.
  2. Encourage innovative behaviors and establish performance objectives aligned with the business plan.
  3. Implement governance frameworks for compliance and risk management tailored to the needs of the insurance sector and regulatory requirements.
  4. Conduct risk assessments to ensure regulatory compliance.
  5. Draft or oversee contract drafting for National Bank Insurance.
  6. Advise senior management on development strategies, acquisitions, outsourcing, or restructuring with significant financial implications.
  7. Coordinate practices across the organization by acting as a contact point for employees from various sectors.
  8. Lead complex projects impacting the company's activities.
  9. Communicate with insurance regulatory authorities across Canada.
  10. Support senior management as the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer on the NBLIC Board and prepare necessary documentation.
  11. Participate in strategic and risk management committees.
  12. Lead litigation and complaint management committees.
  13. Manage the corporate insurance sector, including renewals, risk mitigation, and coverage reviews.
Team Details:

Report to the Senior VP and President of National Bank Insurance, leading a team of 6 diverse employees. The team manages compliance, risks, legal affairs, and insurance coverage across all business units.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 8 years.
  • Experience in personnel management.
  • Strong background in corporate law.
  • Knowledge of insurance and banking compliance practices.
  • Experience with complex insurance transactions and products.
  • Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec and Lawyer title (asset).
  • Advisory skills with senior management.
  • Strong analytical, structuring, presentation, and communication skills.
