Job summary

National Bank of Canada is seeking an Application Analyst to support its Fixed Income electronic trading platform. You will become a subject matter expert, providing operational and technical support to traders, business users, and technology partners.

The role welcomes a technically strong candidate who can learn complex workflows, with an onboarding period of 3–5 months, followed by overnight coverage to align with Hong Kong and London hours.

Qualifications

• Requires degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working in Linux environments.

• Monitor production systems and respond to incidents, alerts, and user issues

A career as an Application Analyst means supporting our trading technology support team and becoming a subject matter expert on a Fixed Income (FI) electronic trading platform and providing operational and technical support to traders, business users, and technology partners.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and an interest in financial markets. No prior Fixed Income trading experience is required, but a willingness to learn complex trading workflows and systems is essential.

You’ll begin with a fairly unstructured onboarding and training period (3-5 months) during Eastern Time Zone business hours. Following training, the role transitions to an overnight schedule to support Hong Kong and London hours.

• Learn the functionality, workflows, and operational processes of a Fixed Income electronic trading platform
• Monitor production systems and respond to incidents, alerts, and user issues
• Investigate production incidents and coordinate resolution with development, infrastructure, and business teams
• Escalate when necessary to colleagues within your team
• Manage support documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles
