CenerTech Canada Ltd. is seeking a Chemical Technical Engineer to join our team in Long Lake, Fort McMurray. The Chemical Technical Engineer will provide technical expertise and support and for of Long Lake Operation Lodge related to chemical applications, process optimization, production enhancement, and asset integrity preservation. The engineer will work closely with operations, production, and maintenance teams to ensure that chemical programs are effective, efficient, and aligned with operational goals.
Scope Of Work
- Design and recommend chemical treatment strategies (e.g., corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, demulsifiers, biocides, hydrate inhibitors).
- Define chemical injection points, rates, and monitoring plans.
- Analyze production processes to identify areas where chemical usage can enhance efficiency.
- Recommend process adjustments or chemical modifications to improve separation, reduce fouling, or enhance flow assurance.
- Support troubleshooting for issues like foaming, scaling, emulsions, or corrosion.
- Develop and implement chemical performance monitoring plans (field trials, bottle tests, coupon monitoring, etc.).
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as corrosion rates, scaling tendencies, fluid properties, and chemical residuals.
- Conduct field sampling, lab testing, and analytical interpretation.
- Investigate and diagnose operational problems linked to chemical performance (e.g., separator upsets, production losses, equipment failures).
- Propose corrective actions including chemical adjustments, process changes, or mechanical interventions.
- Prepare technical reports summarizing chemical program performance, optimization efforts, and field trial results.
- Document chemical usage trends, budgets, and cost savings opportunities.
- Support regulatory compliance reporting where chemical usage impacts environmental reporting.

Requirement & Qualifications
- Skilled to operate laboratory equipment such as, titrators, viscometers, salt in crude analyzer, sulphur analyzer, colorimeter, gas chromatograph and other equipment related to crude oil laboratory testing, etc.
- Performing tests on samples of crude oil and process samples to determine their chemical and physical properties.
- Chemical evaluation and optimization of demulsifer, reverse demulsifier, flocculant, coagulant aids, water clarifier, etc.
- Demonstrates proficiency in using common PC applications like MS office.
- Well conversant with ASTM and related standard test methods used in oil and gas testing laboratories.
