Job summary

Nootka Marine Adventures is seeking a Chef de Partie to support the Resort Chef at Moutcha Bay Resort. You will prepare menu items, manage mise en place, and help run a clean, safe kitchen during the operating season on Vancouver Island’s wild west coast.

We value accuracy, speed, teamwork, and strong sanitation practices. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada and have at least two years of kitchen experience along with Food Safe Level 1 and WHMIS certification.

Qualifications

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years restaurant kitchen experience.
  • Ability to work with accuracy and speed under high pressure.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Food Safe Level 1.
  • WHMIS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare menu items quickly and efficiently following standard recipes.
  • Set up and stock stations with required supplies.
  • Prepare ingredients for service and future use.
  • Follow instructions from the Resort Chef and supervise Line Cooks and Prep Cooks.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen (sanitation, cleaning).
  • Apply FIFO methods and label/store food items correctly.
  • Maintain high standards in food quality, presentation, and sanitation (VIHA).
  • Help reduce waste and meet food cost targets.
  • Communicate anticipated issues to supervisors.
  • Uphold professional conduct, uniform standards, and duties before ending shift.

About the Role

The Chef de Partie supports the Resort Chef by preparing menuitems, maintaining high culinary and sanitation standards, and ensuring smoothkitchen operations. The role includes managing mise en place, assisting withstaff food programs, anticipating service needs, and helping maintain a clean,safe, and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare menu items quickly andefficiently following standard recipes.
  • Set up and stock stations with requiredsupplies.
  • Prepare ingredients for service andfuture use.
  • Follow instructions from the Resort Chefand assist with supervising Line Cooks and Prep Cooks.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout thekitchen (cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, dishwashing).
  • Apply FIFO methods and properly label,date, and store food items.
  • Maintain high standards in food quality,presentation, and sanitation (VIHA compliance).
  • Help reduce waste and meet food costtargets.
  • Communicate anticipated issues tosupervisors.
  • Uphold professional conduct, uniformstandards, and complete all duties before ending each shift.
