Sony Pictures Imageworks Canada Inc. is seeking a skilled CFX Pipeline Tech to join our team.

This pivotal role involves the development and maintenance of our character effects pipeline, with a focus on dynamic simulations and innovative workflows in a collaborative studio environment. The ideal candidate brings strong programming expertise and a deep knowledge of Houdini, with a minimum of 5 years in a production setting.

Qualifications

Strong Python programming skills; C++/VEX a plus.
Minimum 5 years in a Character FX or similar production role.
Proficiency with SideFX Houdini including Vellum and solvers.
Experience developing production pipeline tools and workflows.
Strong problem-solving and professional communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute Character FX (CFX) for cloth, hair, feathers, muscle, and rigid body simulations.
Design, develop, and maintain tools and workflows using Python and scripting languages.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the CFX team.
Collaborate with Rigging, Animation, and Surfacing to ensure integration of CFX assets.
Stay current with industry trends and adopt new tools to improve quality.
Optimize and troubleshoot CFX setups to meet performance and quality standards.
