Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Resident Programs Aide for its Oshawa location. This part-time role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating activation programs that enhance the quality of life for residents, particularly those who are cognitively impaired.

Resident Programs Aide – Extendicare

This position is for our Extendicare Oshawa, located at 82 Park Road North.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, develop, and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.
  • Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Maintain program and resident records according to department policy; communicate participation by residents to registered staff.
What you bring:
  • Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services / Gerontology Diploma or Degree program required.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one‑to‑one/group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation, and evaluation for geriatric population especially those cognitively impaired.
