Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to decontaminate, reassemble and sterilize hospital instruments and equipment for patient care units, clinics and operating rooms. You will apply aseptic technique and universal precautions to prevent hospital‑acquired infections, ensure equipment is functional and perform QA testing.

The role requires completion of an MDR program and HSPA or CSA certification, with WHMIS knowledge and practicum experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program.
• HSPA certification or CSA certification is required.
• WHMIS knowledge and Infection Control practices are necessary.
• Practicum placement from a recognized educational institution is required.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, reassemble and sterilize hospital supplies and instruments.
• Ensure aseptic technique and follow universal precautions to prevent infections.
• Perform quality assurance testing and report issues to supervisor.
