Job summary

Fraser Health is seeking a Sterile Supply Technician to join its operational teams in a hospital setting. The role involves cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and supplies for the Operating Room and other areas, while maintaining documentation and storage standards.

You will operate washing and sterilizing equipment, assist with inventory, and participate in the department's QA program.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing program.
• One year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Receives, sorts, decontaminates, cleans, assembles, wraps, sterilizes and stores instruments, equipment and hospital supplies from all user areas.
• Prepares equipment, instruments and supplies for storage and distribution by checking, testing, calibrating, assembling, packaging, wrapping and sterilizing.
• Operates departmental equipment such as automated washers, cart washer, pasteurizer, ultrasonic washer, clean dryer, heat sealer, and sterilizers.
• Reports and/or removes any malfunctioning equipment or instruments.
• Issues and/or delivers supplies when requested; maintains stock of supplies according to established procedures.
• Rotates stock and reprocesses outdated supplies according to procedures.
• Participates in routine maintenance and the Department's Quality Assurance Program.
• Performs clerical duties such as recording workload statistics, answering the telephone, maintaining records, filing, and typing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
