Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Surgical Processor at Red Deer Regional Hospital. You will decontaminate, reassemble and sterilize hospital supplies and surgical instruments using aseptic technique and universal precautions.

Responsibilities include QA testing, reporting issues to the supervisor, and ensuring equipment is in proper working order. This regular part-time role (0.80 FTE) involves shifts across days, evenings, nights and weekends at Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program.
• Completion of a Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, reassemble and sterilize hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation.
• Apply aseptic technique and universal precautions to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
• Ensure instrumentation and equipment are in proper working order; perform quality assurance testing and report problems.
• Maintain documentation and communicate issues to the supervisor or designate.

You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.
