Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Surgical Processor at Daysland Health Centre. You will handle decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation, following aseptic technique and universal precautions to prevent infections.

You will monitor instrument integrity, perform testing and report issues to the supervisor, contributing to safe patient care.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program.
  • HSPA or CSA certification completed.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, reassemble and sterilize hospital supplies, equipment and instrumentation.
  • Apply aseptic technique and Universal Precautions to prevent HAIs.
  • Ensure instrumentation and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing.
  • Report problems to supervisor or designate.

Job description

As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.
