Job summary

Western Forest Products is seeking a fully qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Timberlands operations in Woss, BC. This role offers union wage rates, premiums for shifts outside the day shift, and comprehensive health, dental, and pension benefits.

Two shift patterns exist (7x7 and 4x3) with 12-hour or 10-hour days, and a $7000 signing bonus plus relocation assistance. The position is safety sensitive and requires a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal HD Mechanic credential is mandatory.
  • Valid BC driver’s license and ability to provide Driver’s Abstract required.
  • OF A Level 3 certificate may be given preference.

Job description

Western Forest Products is currently seeking fully qualified Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our Timberlands operations located in Woss, BC.

What We Offer:
  • United Steel Worker (USW) union wage rate of $54.56 plus trade premiums
  • Hourly premiums on shifts that are outside the recognized day shift

Shifts:

Position one is currently on a 7x7 shift, 7 days on and 7 days off, 12 hours per day. Position two is currently on a 4x3 shift, 4 days on and 3 days off, 10 hours per day.

This role is considered safety sensitive; all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • Must be fully ticketed Red Seal HD Mechanic;
  • All applicants must have a valid BC driver's license and be able to provide a driver's abstract;
  • Preference may be given to the applicant holding a valid OFA Level 3 Certificate.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in west coast logging equipment (Yarders, Log Loaders, Hydraulic Log Loaders & Highway Logging Trucks);
  • Highly developed machine diagnostic and repair skills are a benefit;
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic.
