Job summary

The CWB Group is seeking a Certification Services Representative to provide and maintain certification services for new and existing clients, primarily onsite in Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, ON, with some remote work. The role reports to the VP, Company Certification and involves significant local travel.

Candidates should have 5–10 years in welding fabrication/inspection or as a welding educator, CSA/industry qualifications, strong communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office and

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-10 years hands-on experience in Welding Fabrication and Inspection, or as a Welding Educator.
  • Technical background and knowledge of the Welding and Joining industry.
  • CSA 178.2 Level 1 or 2 Inspectors Qualifications or industry equivalent (e.g. API/ CWI/ TWI Inspectors).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience using web-based platform e.g. Microsoft Teams.
  • A valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
  • Must be able to travel within assigned territory and have travel documents as needed (e.g. passport).

Responsibilities

  • Auditing of companies – validating welding activities and credentials; ensure compliance to codes and standards.
  • Procedure testing – conduct testing for non-prequalified joint assembly per CSA W59.
  • Welder testing – conduct individual performance testing per CSA W47.1 and CSA W47.2.
  • Public Safety activities – visiting job sites, liaising with inspectors, engineers, and clients.

What to expect:

As a Certification Services Representative, you are responsible for providing and maintaining certification services for new and existing clients and to promote other CWB related service lines. This includes:

  • Auditing of companies – validating welding activities i.e. verification of personnel and their welding credentials; ensure compliance to applicable codes and standards (e.g. CSA W47.1 CSA W186, CSA 47.2 and etc.); verification of procedure type documents; provide relevant opportunities for improvement (OFI).
  • Procedure testing – Conduct testing for non – prequalified joint assembly as per the requirements of CSA W59.
  • Welder testing – Conduct individual performance testing as per the requirements of CSA W47.1 and CSA W47.2.
  • Public Safety activities- visiting job sites, liaising with building inspectors, engineers, and current and prospective clients.

In this position, you will report to the VP, Company Certification. You will work PRIMARILY in person onsite at client locations in Burlington, Hamilton & Oakville, ON or as required and occasionally work from your home office providing remote services .This position will require approximately 90% local travel and 10% out of town/overnight travel. What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 5-10 years hands‑on experience in the Welding Fabrication and Inspection industry, or as a Welding Educator
  • Technical background and knowledge of the Weldingand Joining industry
  • CSA 178.2 Level 1 or 2 Inspectors Qualifications or industry equivalent (e.g. API/ CWI/ TWI Inspectors)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with indirect supervision
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience in using web-based platform e.g. Microsoft Teams
  • A valid driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Must be able to travel within assigned territory and be in possession of appropriate travel documents as needed (e.g. passport)

The following qualifications are considered assets:

  • CWB Welding Supervisor Qualification or prior Supervisory/Managerial experience
  • Experience in theoretical and/or practical welder training
  • Prior experience working in a QA/QC environment
  • Prior experience auditing existing Quality Management Systems
