Job summary

ROSEN seeks a Cathodic Protection Technician based in Calgary to join the Extended Integrity team. You will collect field data for external corrosion assessments and CP surveys, using CP testing equipment and field drawing interpretation.

The role requires extensive travel and outdoor work, with safety and regulatory compliance guiding every activity. Ideal candidates have CP testing experience, read technical drawings, and can operate GPS devices while collaborating with engineers and project

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Secondary education, technical training, or trade coursework preferred.
  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • NACE/AMPP CP2 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel 250+ days per year to support field operations and projects across multiple locations.
  • Perform routine inspections, testing and maintenance of CP systems (rectifiers, anode beds, test stations, ground beds, bonds).
  • Conduct CIS, DCVG and Large Stand-off Magnetometry surveys and record CP data.
  • Analyze and interpret CP data to ensure regulatory and company standards compliance.
  • Troubleshoot system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed field reports, documentation and drawings.

ROSEN is looking for a Cathodic Protection Technician that will be based in Calgary. This position reports directly to the Head of Operations, Non Destructive Testing and will be a part of the Extended Integrity team.

What role you will play in our team

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cathodic Protection (CP) Technician to join our non‑destructive testing team. In this role, you will collect field data in support of external corrosion direct assessment campaigns, as well as general cathodic protection survey data. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working outdoors, and experienced with CP testing equipment and industry standards.

What will I be doing?
  • Extensive travel is required for this role, with an expected travel schedule of 250+ days per year to support field operations, inspections, and project work across multiple locations.
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of CP systems, including:
    • Rectifiers
    • Anode beds
    • Test stations
    • Ground beds
    • Bonds and isolation devices
  • Conduct line locating, Close Interval Surveys (CIS), Direct Current Voltage Gradient (DCVG) surveys, and Large Stand-off Magnetometry surveys.
  • Record, analyze, and interpret CP data to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Troubleshoot system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed field reports, documentation, and drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NACE/AMPP, CER, AER, DOT/PHMSA, API).
  • Work safely in accordance with company policies, environmental regulations, and job site requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field crews to support projects and campaigns.

This is a highly travel‑intensive position requiring 250+ travel days annually. Candidates should be comfortable with frequent travel, extended time in the field, and varying work locations.

What are we looking for?
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Secondary education, technical training, or trade school coursework preferred
  • Engineering degree preferred
  • NACE/AMPP CP2 certification preferred
Experience
  • Experience with a wide range of cathodic protection systems, testing methods, installation practices, maintenance activities, and engineering applications
  • Experience across all ranges of cathodic protection systems and related engineering applications preferred
    Additional Qualifications Or Skills

    Technical/Functional Skills

    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, maps and CP system schematics
    • Proficiency with CP testing equipment (multimeters, data loggers, interrupters, GPS devices)
    • Strong problem solving skills and attention to details
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to job sites
    • Comfortable walking long distances during surveys
    Physical Requirements
    • Walking 1-5 miles continuously while carrying 40 lbs (ground level)
    • Squatting/leaning 1x per hour, up to 5x per day (ground level)
