Job Summary

Our Catering Supervisors are the face of the company for on-site events. This position requires a very special skill set and personality. Managing a catered event requires solution-based thinking, speed and sense of urgency while following timelines, as well as attention to detail for service floor plans and table maps for plated dinners. This is a leadership role that requires managing the on-site staff and keeping everyone on task, while also overseeing the entire scope of service and liaising with our clients.

Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Catering Supervisor, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  1. Manage staff and follow timelines for event setups and service
  2. Engage with clients and Sales Managers and maintain a rapport while running events
  3. Ensure all food is presented, served, and displayed per standards
  4. Log and maintain food temperatures
  5. Coordinate catering staff schedules to ensure all functions are delivered, served, and cleared in a timely fashion
  6. Maintain a calm demeanor while under pressure
  7. Make quick, efficient decisions
  8. Thoroughly clean location after event is completed and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout tasks
  9. Return food and beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility
  10. Ensure strict compliance with Compass’ Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations

  1. You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the province in which you are applying
  2. Open availability to work both morning and evening events
  3. Minimum 4 years of catering or hospitality management, supervisory experience
  4. Excellent customer service skills
  5. Able to accurately read event orders and organize deliveries for the day
  6. Adept at conflict resolution
  7. Advanced problem solving and delegating skills
  8. Confident leadership qualities including staff motivation and direction
  9. Ability to follow and maintain written and oral directions for timelines and room setups
  10. Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  11. Extremely well organized and efficient; able to multi-task
  12. Good attention to detail
  13. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
