Job Summary

Now, if you were to come on board as our Catering Manager, here’s what we’d ask you to do:

  • Lead and support the Operations team on day of events
  • Collaborate on menu planning with clients and Executive Chef, and identify revenue opportunities
  • Assist in production, hiring, employee training, staff scheduling, supervision, and employee relations
  • Develop the team and provide performance improvement programs
  • Full cycle sales including qualifying leads, site visits, negotiating contracts
  • Meet and greet clients, conduct tastings, promote services, and answer client inquiries
  • Prepare quotes, contracts and letters, and organize arrangements for corporate and social events
  • Respond to booking inquiries in a timely manner
  • Consult with clients to realize their event vision and objectives
  • Schedule and coordinate client meetings and appointments
  • Work with customers through the contract process and propose solutions as needed
  • Develop leads, secure re-bookings and assist with promotions
  • Participate in weekly revenue meetings and prepare sales reports
  • Identify opportunities to maximize revenue through up-selling and enhancements
  • Manage client relationships in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Contribute to marketing materials and attend industry events to promote the venue
  • Maintain knowledge of operations, policies and procedures for Gourmet Cuisine
  • Input data into systems to generate account history reports
  • Maintain orderly sales files and confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Develop relationships with meeting / event planners and funeral homes for promotions
  • Review competitors’ pricing and web presence as part of market awareness
  • Participate in training, regional initiatives and meetings
Role Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Catering Sales Manager role for a catering company, venue or hotel
  • High school diploma, college or university degree or relevant work experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to work with minimal supervision
  • Proven decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude, flexible and motivated to succeed
  • Dependable, self-disciplined and team-oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook; ability to learn new software
  • Knowledge of catering software is an asset
  • Exceptional customer relationship management skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
