Job summary

Haleon is seeking a Category Development Manager to drive category and brand growth across Walmart, translating shopper and retailer insights into actionable strategies. The role requires 3–5 years in category management in consumer goods, experience with Walmart, and proficiency with NIQ and planogram tools.

Salary Range:

The base salary compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 plus bonus and benefits.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Category Development Lead, the Category Development Manager is responsible for driving category and brand growth across Walmart by translating shopper, category, and retailer insights into compelling strategies and customer-focused solutions. Working in close collaboration with sales, marketing, sales strategy, insights, and cross-functional teams, this role leads the development of category stories, shelving and merchandising recommendations, and growth initiatives that strengthen Haleon's position within key categories while delivering value for Walmart.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Core Shelf Dynamics at WALMART are strong in Haleon Categories and for Haleon brands.
  • Bring thought leadership to develop breakthrough Category strategies for HALEON to fuel sales / market share / and profit growth for HALEON Sales & for Key retailers
  • Create strong category shelving/merchandising solutions leveraging sku efficiency principles and help customers implement shopper centric solutions
  • Conduct Pre and Post Planogram Reviews across key categories to identify progress and key areas of opportunity.
  • Evaluate new launch potential and build new launch selling decks that excite and guide retailers and secure key shelving placement
  • Build strong relationships with US Walmart Haleon Team to leverage key insights and opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales Team on joint-business planning sessions and strategic alliances with retailers.
  • Conduct insightful category reviews on key businesses and work with internal sales team and external customers to address opportunities.
  • Manage and integrate various global and North American research sources to develop category insights that feed into retailer solutions
  • Leverage Data centric tools like Scintilla and NIQ Scanning, Assortment, and Omni Panel to add value to our retailers.
  • Liaison with cross-functional team through business planning and ensure category dynamics and shopper opportunities are embedded in brand and customer plans.
Basic Qualifications:
  • University Degree with focus in a business discipline (MBA an asset).
  • Minimum 3-5 years category management experience with preference for consumer packaged goods
  • Proven experience working with Walmart (Buyers/Category, Merchandising) at multiple organizational levels.
  • Led/highly involved in developing Category growth initiatives and bringing thought leadership to our internal and external partners
  • Advanced at working with NIQ, Assortment tools, Shopper tools (including Panel), and JDA (Blue Yonder) planogram software
  • Highly adept at working with Walmart data including Scintilla and Retail link (ideally as Vendor advisor)
  • Strong storytelling capabilities
  • Proficient analytical skills that can generate insights leveraging shopper research studies and best practice
