Job summary

The Stratford Festival, based in Stratford, Ontario, is hiring a casual Stage Door Security Guard to monitor building security and respond to emergencies. The role reports to the Facilities management team and requires on-site presence during rotating twelve-hour shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualified applicants will hold an Ontario Security Guard License, a valid Ontario driver’s license, First Aid/CPR/AED Level C, and have security patrol experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License is required.
• Bondable with a valid Ontario driver’s license.
• Able to perform physical requirements (lifting, walking, bending).
• First Aid/CPR/AED Level C certification required.
• Experience with security patrols and basic security software is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation are important.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with members of the public and internal staff.
• Monitor and maintain security of Stratford Festival buildings.
• Control parking and access to loading docks.
• Handle shipping and receiving duties.
• Lifting, bending, pushing and pulling boxes and packages.
• Follow procedures for Fire system monitoring and reporting.

This position reports to the Facilities management team and is part of the Facilities team. This position is a casual coverage position for Stage Door Security Guard’s vacation and sick time and there is no guarantee of hours.

Function:
To monitor building security and respond to emergencies or urgent situations as required at the Stratford Festival buildings. This may include properties owned, leased or rented. To perform regular security tours of the building and grounds. Duties and responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the job description and within the Facilities Department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with members of the public and internal staff
• Monitor and maintain security of all Stratford Festival buildings
• Control parking and access to loading docks
• Shipping and receiving duties
• Lifting, bending, pushing and pulling boxes and packages
• Follow process and procedures related to Fire system monitoring and reporting
• Facilities Vehicle inspections
• Perform duties within Maintenance job classification as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possess a valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Bondable with a valid Ontario Driver’s License
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job (regular light to moderate lifting and carrying, plus heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) and extended periods of walking)
• Possess a valid First Aid/CPR/AED Level C certificate
• Experience in security building patrols, security software and general security practice
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills

Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in security. The successful candidate will be required to complete various on-site training.

This casual unionized position is located in Stratford, Ontario and will begin immediately. Candidates must be available to work rotating twelve-hour shifts and must be available evenings and weekends (including holidays).
