Halton District School Board is seeking a Casual School Social Worker to support student well-being across HDSB schools in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and surrounding communities. The position is to fill casual vacancies and may involve temporary short-term assignments.

The successful candidate will join the Social Work team, providing short-term individual and group counselling, family support, and case management, with priority for long-term opportunities as postings arise under the PSSP

Qualifikationen

• Master’s Degree in Social Work.
• Member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Access to reliable transportation.

Aufgaben

• Offer problem-solving and consultation services around student needs to develop supportive strategies to enhance student success.
• Provide support and service rooted in cultural responsiveness, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive practices.
• Help students, families and schools in relation to mental health, emotional, social and behavioural concerns.
• Support students who are suspended or expelled and their families.
• Provide anger management, social skills, conflict resolution, life skills, and work skills.
• Provide social work services to newcomers, refugees and international students and their families during students' transition to school.
• Support schools and communities around issues of bullying prevention/intervention and other issues related to school safety including Violence Threat Risk Assessment and Restorative Practices

Kenntnisse

Master’s Degree in Social Work

OCSWSSW Registration in good standing

Strong verbal and writtenCommunication
