Job summary

Extendicare in Canada is hiring a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our long-term care teams under CUPE Local 4788. This part-time role requires reliable transportation and a commitment to high-quality resident care.

You will work under established nursing standards, follow physicians’ orders, and contribute to care plans, assessments, and timely reporting of resident condition while aligning with infection control practices and organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Current certificate of competence for the province.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the province.
  • Managerial experience in long-term care or community homecare preferred.
  • Experience with cognitively impaired residents.
  • Knowledge of nursing care practices and infection control.
  • Commitment to working with seniors.
  • Clear verbal and written communication; friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to synthesize information and propose solutions.
  • Strong organizational, planning and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure care is provided with nursing standards, physician orders and policies; observe and record vitals and conditions.
  • Assist in assessing residents, develop and review care plans, monitor health and refer as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices and report changes to the care team.

Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care2) Assist in assessing patients/residents and develop, implement, review and evaluate care plans.
