The Town of Slave Lake is seeking a dynamic Casual Recreation Services Representative to support drop-in and rentals at the Multi-Rec Centre and assist with program registrations and events.

You will greet users, help schedule facilities, lead youth activities, and ensure a welcoming, safe environment. Experience with POS and working with children is preferred; evening/weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Experience with computers and point-of-sale systems is preferred.
  • Experience working with children/teens.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet facility users in a friendly, welcoming manner.
  • Accept payment for drop-in and facility rentals.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Casual Recreation and Program Representative

The Town of Slave Lake is seeking a dynamic person to fill the Casual Recreation Services Representative Role.

Reporting to the Recreation Services Coordinator, this individual will collect payment for drop-ins and rentals at the Multi-Rec Centre Facility, accept program registrations, assist with setup and takedown of programs and events, and help schedule all joint and municipally managed recreation facilities. Greet facility users in a friendly, welcoming manner; answer public questions and assist; and help keep the facility clean and welcoming. Assist in planning, organizing and helping lead programs and activities at the Multi-Rec Facility safely and engagingly.

Recreation Services Coordinator

SALARY:

$18.72 – $23.59 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets facility users in a friendly, welcoming manner
  • Accepts payment for drop-in and facility rentals
  • Accepts program registrations and assists with booking of facilities
  • Assists in providing a clean and welcoming facility
  • Ensure that tasks are performed safely and in compliance with applicable legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Lead organized team activities, such as group games and other team-building activities.
  • Ensure all supplies are in proper order for programming
  • Provide positive mentorship and role-model behaviour towards youth groups.
  • Provide help as a camp counsellor during P.D. and Fall/Spring break camps.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Experience with computers and point-of-sale systems is preferred.
  • Experience working with children/or teens.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification preferred

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Accurate typing skills with computer and word processing experience.
  • Good working knowledge of standard office software.
  • Good interpersonal skills in working with co-workers and the public.
  • Good flexibility, self-initiative, independence, office and organizational skills.
  • Proven productivity and reliability.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

  • Occasional light lifting.
  • Long periods of sitting.

  • Good lighting, temperature, and noise control.
  • Normal working day consists of a maximum of 7.5 hours; however, occasional extended hours may be required.
