Job summary

Health PEI is seeking a Casual Power Engineer 4A at Prince County Hospital in Summerside. The role covers the safe and efficient operation of the power plant, steam distribution, and related mechanical systems, with duties including inspections, maintenance, and coordination with contractors.

This is a CUPE casual position commencing immediately. Minimum qualifications include Grade 12, a Power Engineer 4th Class course, and a PEI license, with two years of related experience or an equivalent

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion is required.
• Course in Power Engineer 4th Class from an approved institute.
• Power Engineer license as issued by the Province of Prince Edward Island; two years of related experience or maintenance trades.

Responsibilities

• Prepare boilers, heat exchangers, sterilizers and gas system for inspections by government inspection agencies.
• Assist with testing, maintaining and repairing power generators.
• Monitor pressure in fire hoses, pumps, and main fire panel with monthly testing.
• Monitor and maintain HVAC systems and building control systems; manage fuels and oils.
• Supervise external contractors for plant-related repairs and coordinating with maintenance staff.
